OUR PRODUCT

Our greatest asset is our roasted coconut oil , the pride of our products. Before the oil is extracted, the copra is properly dried and roasted.

It highlights the delicious flavor and wonderful perfume of copra. Utilizing premium copra and combining the elimination of moisture and sterilization causes extended shelf life for the coconut oil. Our oil is a sparkly silver liquid which makes it ideal for cooking.

MANUFACTURING PROCESS

Acquiring and Classifying Copra

The copra used as a raw material for the production of coconut oil is milling grade. Only coconuts that have been sun-dried for copra are procured from coastal regions and copra producers in Chikmagalur. It has around 5% moisture content and 0.5% FFA. It has a cup form, with a white inside and a brown or black outside. It is delivered in 50 kilogram gunny sacks. Impurities are eliminated and it is visually examined. Coconut shell, Kout (poor quality copra), and plastic/jute threads are examples of prevalent contaminants.

Copra Desiccation

A 9-ton hopper is filled with carefully chosen copra. A mesh at the bottom of the hopper lets air in while keeping copra from dropping out. An air heater produces hot air that is between 75 and 80 degrees, which is then forced into a hopper by a rotational blower. For around ten hours, there is constant supply of hot air. The initial 5% moisture content drops to 2.5%. Copra dries up and hardens while developing a brittle nature. The coconut oil’s shelf life rises when moisture is eliminated since moisture promotes rancidity when it is present. Fine-filtration is another option for oil gained from moisture-free copra.

Chopping of copra

Copra is milled into half spheres and various other asymmetrical forms. It is not the most effective thing to manage and process. As a result, it is sliced into tiny, one-inch pieces. This is accomplished via a motor-driven Copra Cutter. When the copra is chopped into bits by the beaters and gets smaller than intended, the fragments escape through the mesh. It’s crucial to chop the copra into uniform-sized pieces so that they roast uniformly afterward. These bits of copra are moved using a cylindrical conveyor.

Roasting and preparing copra

The copra pieces are then continuously stirred for approximately an hour in a vessel sealed with a steam jacket. For optimal cooking, copra is also sprayed with an appropriate quantity of steam. An Indian Boiler Regulation (IBR) standard steam boiler that is powered with solid waste is used to produce steam. IBR seamless steam pipelines provide efficient and safe steam supply. Cooking extends the shelf life of coconut oil, enhances oil recovery, and gives it an appealing smell. Moreover, heat disinfects copra.

Crushing and extracting oil from copra

The chunks of dried and roasted copra are now put into an expeller equipped with a screw press to undergo high-pressure mechanical crushing. During this procedure, the oil is extracted from the copra, leaving the fiber behind. To collect as much oil as possible, copra that has already been crushed once is crushed again in two phases. There will still be 8% oil in the excluded oil cake. Beyond this point, mechanical crushing is not cost-effective for oil extraction. After this stage, the solvent extraction procedure will need to be used.

About 63% of copra is oil; the remaining 32% is oil cake, with the remaining 5% being lost as moisture during processing. Oil is extracted for subsequent processing, such as packaging and filtering. Oil cake is supplied to producers of livestock feed or solvent extractors in sacks.

Filtering Coconut Oil

Approximately 8% of the oil extracted with an expeller will contain sediments. They are extracted from oil using a three-stage purification process: an oscillating screen for coarse filtering, a filter press for main filtering, and a different filter press for fine filtering.

Oscillating Screen

An oscillating motor helps a mesh vibrate simply to separate heavy particles. This is the least expensive and easiest way to filter. This improves the efficiency in the subsequent filtering stages by alleviating a large amount of sediments from those stages.

Wood press

After that, the nuts or seeds are placed into a wooden press called a kachi ghani, which crushes them under pressure at a low temperature. The seeds or nuts’ pure oil is released by the pressure of being crushed. The produce is rich in nutrients, has a natural aroma and taste  and has no additional heat or chemicals added.

Primary filtering

The first filter press is used for quick filtration using hot oil that is around 70 degrees. This initial step ensures efficient separation of solids from liquids, streamlining the filtration process and enhancing productivity. With precise temperature control, the hot oil optimally facilitates the filtration process, ensuring thorough removal of impurities while maintaining product integrity. Additionally, the use of hot oil aids in reducing viscosity, promoting smoother flow and faster filtration rates. Overall, this innovative approach to filtration exemplifies our commitment to delivering high-quality results efficiently and effectively.
